Interviewer:

Thank you for joining us, Dean. Could you begin by telling us about the purpose and vision behind the establishment of this school?

Dean:

Thank you for having me. The University School of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Study and Research was established to promote in-depth research and understanding of the life, teachings, and legacy of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Our vision is to become a center of excellence for Sikh studies, spiritual philosophy, and intercultural dialogue, while nurturing scholars who can contribute meaningfully to society through values-based education.

Our curriculum is a blend of spiritual, historical, and philosophical studies rooted in Sikh thought. We emphasize Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s teachings on courage, compassion, justice, and universal brotherhood. Students engage with classical texts, historical documents, and modern interpretations, and we also integrate contemporary relevance through courses on interfaith dialogue, peacebuilding, and ethical leadership.

Interviewer:

How does the school support research in Sikhism and related areas?

Dean:

We encourage scholarly research through our dedicated research centers, regular seminars, and national and international conferences. We also offer fellowships and grants for in-depth studies, publish research journals, and collaborate with institutions worldwide. Our goal is to create a vibrant intellectual community that respects tradition while encouraging academic innovation.

Interviewer:

In what ways does the school engage with the community?

Dean:

Community engagement is a cornerstone of our mission. We organize outreach programs, spiritual camps, lectures, and heritage events to spread awareness about Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s philosophy. Our students also participate in service-learning projects and collaborate with gurdwaras and cultural organizations to bridge academic learning with real-world impact.

Interviewer:

What are some future goals for the school?

Dean:

We plan to expand our academic offerings, including launching interdisciplinary programs that connect Sikh studies with law, politics, education, and social work. We also aim to digitize rare manuscripts, build a world-class library, and strengthen our global academic partnerships to make this school a hub for Sikh scholarship and dialogue.

Interviewer:

What message would you like to share with students who wish to join this field of study?

Studying Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s life is not just an academic pursuit—it’s a journey of personal transformation.
