Encouraging the Future of Automation | PLC & SCADA Workshop at USET

In an era where automation is redefining industrial landscapes, Lamrin Tech Skills University (LTSU) remains at the forefront of bridging academic learning with real-world applications. On April 29, 2025, the University School of Engineering & Technology (USET), in collaboration with Wonder Automation, organized a power-packed workshop on PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.

This dynamic and hands-on session was meticulously designed for students from the Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and IoT departments, equipping them with vital insights into the automation technologies that are transforming industries across the globe.

Bridging Theory with Industry Practice

The workshop began with an enthusiastic welcome from USET’s leadership team:

  • Prof. (Dr.) H.P.S. Dhami, Executive Dean
  • Dr. V.K. Saini, Deputy Dean
  • Ms. Meenakshi Sharma, Head of Department

Their inspiring opening remarks emphasized the importance of practical learning, urging students to embrace industry-relevant skills that complement their academic foundation.

From the outset, the atmosphere was charged with excitement as students eagerly immersed themselves in the world of automation. The Wonder Automation team led the technical sessions, delivering live demonstrations that brought textbook concepts to life. Students observed how PLCs control and automate complex machinery, enhance production efficiency, and contribute to predictive maintenance in industrial settings.

Real-World Applications of PLC & SCADA

The session went beyond theoretical explanations. Students saw firsthand how SCADA systems function as centralized platforms for monitoring and controlling large-scale operations. These insights were contextualized through examples from power plants, manufacturing lines, and smart urban infrastructure, giving students a comprehensive understanding of the technologies shaping Industry 4.0.

Interactive Q&A sessions provided a platform for students to ask questions, explore challenges, and brainstorm solutions, making the workshop deeply engaging and participative. Faculty members further enriched the session by linking live demonstrations back to classroom theories, ensuring conceptual clarity.

Industry Insight Meets Student Engagement

A special acknowledgment goes to Ms. Rajinder Kaur and the Wonder Automation team for their expert guidance and dedication. Their real-world expertise and willingness to share industry best practices made the workshop not just informative, but truly inspiring. Their contribution helped students visualize the career paths and professional environments they are preparing to enter.

A Step Toward an Automation-Ready Future

By the end of the session, students walked away not only with enhanced technical knowledge but also with a deeper appreciation for how automation drives efficiency, safety, and innovation in modern industries. The workshop instilled confidence and motivation, encouraging students to apply their newly acquired skills in future academic projects, internships, and beyond.

At USET, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom, and events like the PLC & SCADA Workshop are essential in nurturing a culture of innovation, industry collaboration, and lifelong learning.

Here’s to encouraging the future of automation—one workshop, one student, and one innovation at a time.
