Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab is thrilled to share that our Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura was invited as Special Guest of Honour for 2 days Stakeholder Consultation & Plenary meeting on the India-Europe Labor Corridor on December 1st and 2nd, 2022 at New Delhi organised by International Organisation for Migration (IOM) of United Nations in collaboration with MEA.

The delegation was having the representation from the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP), the Algarve Tourism Region, the Association of Hotels & Tourist Enterprises (AHTE) Algarve, the Association of Horticulturists, Floriculturists, and Horticulturists, Odemira and Aljezur (AHSA), and IOM Portugal. The IOM, India session was headed by Mr. Sanjay Awasthi and the IOM, Portugal team led by Mr. Vasco Malta.
On day 1, Dr. Kaura was invited as an expert panelist for the session on “India-Europe Labor Migration Corridor: Steps taken for equitable and efficient talent mobility to Europe”. During his speech, he laid emphasis on the importance to collaborate at G2G (Government to Government) level to ease the labor mobility from surplus manpower countries to deficit countries. Dr Kaura also met Mr. Brent Lee, First Secretary (Migration) and his teammates, and highlighted the ongoing projects on the international skilling with Canadian institutions and he was very keen to be a part of these great initiatives.
The day 2 was followed by one to one meeting with the Portuguese delegation to explore the creation and strengthening of collaboration mechanisms between Portugal and Punjab for facilitating international recruitment. The priority sectors of the Portuguese government to strengthen the labor mobility in the agriculture, Trade and tourism sector. Dr. Kaura presented the project HARVEST (Harnessing All Round development through Vocational Education and Skill Training) model and shared success stories from countries such as Canada, Singapore, UK, Australia, Germany and Japan etc. The Punjab’s model on international skilling and overseas employment was highly appreciated by all the members of the delegation. Dr. Kaura has also been working as Adviser to Govt. of Punjab for Skill Development since 2015 with successive different governments and has designed Unique Overseas Skilling Model.
