S. Sukhbir Singh Badal Ignites Excitement on Day 2
of
70th Women Sr. National Kabaddi Championship at Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab

S. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Member Parliament Firozpur and Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab visited Lamrin Tech Skills University to encourage the players participating in the 70th Women Sr. National Kabaddi Championship. S.Badal appreciated the governance model of the skill university for being the first of its kind incubated by industry and commended the efforts of university for hosting such a significant event for promoting and supporting women sports. He expressed that such an institution was dream of late S. Parkash Singh Badal. Badal expressed proud about Kabaddi being the most popular game amongst Punjabis nationally and globally. He emphasised upon the need for a greater focus on Kabaddi as per national standards, increased budget allocation, sports infrastructure development and professional coaching in Punjab.

Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura; Chancellor Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab and Advisor National Skill Development Corporation; Govt of India stated that the championship would set a new platform for youth in sports, aligning with the university’s standards in skills and technical education. Dr. Kaura felt nostalgic citing that S. Parkash Singh Badal was the visionary who brought him to the skill development. He expressed satisfaction with the championship’s progress and emphasized the university’s commitment to the all-round development of students.
S. Sikander Singh Malooka, President Punjab Kabaddi Association expressed his happiness regarding the progress of the event and shared that during the first day of the championship, 14 matches were held in university campus in an environment fully charged by the enthusiasts.

The prominent personalities present on the second day included Sh Tikshan Sood, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, S. Sikander Singh Maluka, S Tejinder Singh Middukhera, Mr. A.S. Malhi and a large contingent from the Punjab Kabaddi Association. The Chancellor affirmed the university’s willingness to host events promoting sports in Punjab and highlighted the university’s achievements in various fields over the past two years. The hosting of the 70th National Women Kabaddi Championship reflects the proactive approach of the university in fostering sports amongst youth.

India converges at Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab for
70th Women Senior National Kabaddi Championship

The 70th Senior National Women Kabaddi Championship was declared open today by Cabinet Minister for Sports and Youth Services, Government of Punjab; S. Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer in the Campus of Lamrin Tech Skills University, Ropar, Punjab. This Championship will continue upto 13th December and is poised to make a history as it is being organised in Punjab for the first time.

Speaking on the occasion; Cabinet Minister stressed upon the need to focus on National Style Kabaddi as it has international acceptability. He stressed that Punjab must promote National Style Kabaddi to enhance our participation share in the country. The government is ready to provide finances for this purpose. Minister appreciated the role of University in implementing employment & entrepreneurship based Long term and Short Term Skill Programs. He added that this event is not merely a competition; it is a celebration of the spirit and prowess of women in sports.

During his address, Chancellor of the university; Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura mentioned that 27 teams from various States of India in addition to the team for Indian Railways ; comprising 400 players, coaches and Managers are participating in the championship which is being organised by Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI). He apprised that it is the second anniversary of the foundation day of Lamrin Tech skills University.  In a span of two years, university has exhibited vibrancy in almost all the fields with the current student intake of 5331. Dr Kaura stated that university is focussing on the all-round development of students and hosting 70th National Women Kabaddi Championship is one such initiative that comes from proactive approach of the University. He further added that university is implementing all programs in association with its anchor partner IBM India Pvt Ltd and other industry partners Tata Technologies and Ansys.

The opening event was also attended by Mr Dinesh Chadha, MLA Ropar, Mr. Santosh kataria, MLA Balachaur, Mr Arun Raghav Vice President M&M (Swaraj Division), Tajinder Singh Middukhera, Vice President, KFI, Punjab, Mr. Mahesh Kumar(Dumpy Pehalwan) President BKU alongwith other prominent personalities from Government, industry, academia and other organizations.

S. Sikandar Singh Maluka; President Punjab Kabaddi Association in his remarks congratulated the University Management for hosting a wonderful event for the upliftment of sports, specially to promote the sports spirit amongst girls. He further stated that It is a matter of great pride and honour for Punjab that Kabaddi has become popular worldwide and is boosting the morale of all Punjabis, especially Kabaddi Lovers and players all over the globe.
